From my favourite airline. So pay attention to this important safety announcement.
Respect to Terry O'Reilly (in general) and the Age of Persuasion for this one.

"What A Wonderful World" - Good Morning Vietnam
This is probably the most influential piece of editing in my life.
I saw this movie when I was about 13 with my dad, and remember choking on my root beer because it was so funny, but this montage is so poignant that I think I cried.
And apparently I've been trying to recreate it in half the pieces I've done since 1987.

Dave Eggers on TED
I like Dave Eggers' books (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, What is the What) and I really like McSweeney's, (and the screenplay for Where the Wild Things Are) but I love this video. It lived on my desktop for about 7 months (and nothing lives on my desktop). The most inspiring half an hour I've ever seen.

The Power of the Pentatonic Scale
Science and music! Together! It works!
C'mon, tell me you weren't singing the notes in your head.
C'mon, tell me you weren't singing the notes in your head.
Here's the blurb:
"Bobby McFerrin demonstrates the power of the pentatonic scale, using audience participation, at the event "Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus", from the 2009 World Science Festival, June 12, 2009."

Frosty Man & the BMX Kid
The 5 movies from the NZ Your Big Break contest are pretty excellent - they're being judged by (Sir) Peter Jackson - but this is (in my opinion) the excellent-est.
Seriously, I've watched it about 14 times. I laugh every time.
My students wanted to know what language it is.
Chur, bru!
Oh and this one was the people's choice winner, it's pretty alright too.

I have a blog. Doesn't everyone?
Because everyone has a blog, I do too.
Thank you for reading this ... it's a collection of things I like; an online scrapbook: some professional, some purely personal enjoyment.
Let the wild rumpus start.
